My fiance and I had a late lunch at La Trattoria (LT) during a weekend mini-break to Daylesford in late March.

LT is memorable not just for the quality of its food (local produce, prepared simply and creatively and with obvious care), but also for its wine list (containing, at least during our visit, several Macedon region wines by the glass), and its ambience (in the rural idyll that is Lavandula Lavender Farm - think warm sun, flocks of geese and fruit trees).

LT is memorable not just for the quality of its food (local produce, prepared simply and creatively and with obvious care), but also for its wine list (containing, at least during our visit, several Macedon region wines by the glass), and its ambience (in the rural idyll that is Lavandula Lavender Farm - think warm sun, flocks of geese and fruit trees).

So often the cafes/restaurants at wineries/farms appear secondary to the winery/farm itself. But LT is reason alone to visit Lavandula.

The only thing that could have improved the LT experience for me was a strategically placed hammock for sleepy, sun-warmed diners in which to digest and to snooze away the afternoon. Heartily recommended. (Less)
