Cant believe this review. I find the food and service at Chartreuse cafe really good. Has to be one of the best cafes in the area... They have brilliant coffee too! Atomica, a local coffee roasted in Brunswick St Fitzroy !

As a regular of the Niddrie area who frequents many of the cafes and restaurants on Keilor Road, going to Chartreuse Cafe Bar seemed like a good idea for a Friday lunch. However, I was appalled at the lack of professional customer service I received after ordering the seafood linguine but receiving what smelled like a less than edible meal. Upon advising me that in his opinion there was nothing wrong with the meal, the manager/owner asked if I would like to replace it with something else. As a regular of the Niddrie area who frequents many of the cafes and restaurants on Keilor Road, going to Chartreuse Cafe Bar seemed like a good idea for a Friday lunch. However, I was appalled at the lack of professional customer service I received after ordering the seafood linguine but receiving what smelled like a less than edible meal. Upon advising me that in his opinion there was nothing wrong with the meal, the manager/owner asked if I would like to replace it with something else. As my lunch companions had already received their meals, I decided on something simple and ordered a bowl of chips. When it came time to pay the bill, I noticed I had been charged for the seafood linguine and not the chips. Upon advising the manager of this he advised me that from his perspective there was nothing wrong with the meal, it was what i had ordered and so I should pay accordingly. With all of the cafes and restaurants on Keilor Road that do provide quality service, it is my suggestion that this one be eliminated from the "to do" list as it seems no customer will receive the rightful duty of care they deserve.
