After all that, the food wasn't that good. My Eggs Florentine were on barely-toasted bread (which makes the bread soggy when you eat it), and the hollandaise sauce that covered it tasted and had the consistency of butter. My breakfast partner's bacon looked as though it had more fat than bacon on it. The coffee was passable, but we didn't get offered a second cup and were pretty much ignored until our plates were empty - then they were taken away quickly.
Other patrons complained about the wait, and were just told that it was a busy morning. Sure, the place was full, but surely an established café should be able to handle a Sunday morning rush.
I'd be interested to see whether the quality of the food changed with a quieter service, but Acland Street is full of other, more reliable places to try your luck. (Less)
