The British Hotel in North Adelaide is renowned for its tantalising cuisine, friendly service and great atmosphere. The British opened its doors to the public back in 1838 and now holds one of the oldest hotel licences in South Australia. Things were a little different back then, but the old nostalgia and charm of the British remains today.
Situated amongst the leafy streets of North Adelaide, the British Hotel offers a wide variety of culinary services, ranging from silver-service dinners in our private function rooms, to tasty snacks at one of the bars. For some reason I always feel gypped when I come here. Steak eaters are safe as the steaks are good quality and cooked well for the price paid. I tried the lamb this time and the lamb portion was tiny (despite being a backstrap rather than a fillet) and overcooked. Service was excellent though as we didn't have a booking on a busy Friday night and a table was quickly re-set for us. Good wine list too.
