i am a regular at ego and the food gets better and better as it grows to be the best italian restaurant in sydney. to the sad person that wrote that: la sala started with darren simpson trying to be italian but he is irish, no thank you. the chef now is ruben and he is south american and trained under darren simpson, again no thank you. when i went there the waiters were back packers from france and england, again no thank you. ego is truly italian starting from the head chef to the runners and being a regular i can tell you that the ingredients are all italian imported from... Planning on dining here although i've seen alot of bad reviews for this restauarant i cannot deny the beauty of the location! Sadly the bad reviews on this restaurant were about portion size! I'm a big eater so i hope theyr'e genorous. To the sad people that think this would be the only true italian restauarant in Sydney i'm ashamed. Check out La Sala in Surry Hills. The Cocktails have justa gotten a makeover and the food is passionately prepared.

The food at ego is fantastic. Went on a busy night and the vibe was pumping in there, so cool. I had the risotto with King Fish, it was to die for. My partner had the Angus fillet and she couldn't believe how juicy the meat was. Went downstairs for drinks after the meal and my god... we had the best martinis ever. The girls that run the cocktail bar are so good and trust me... they really know what they are doing there, they make you feel so welcome it's incredible. What a perfect night. It's the talk of the town so you must book on weekends.

i had a wonderful dinner at ego last night....i really cant understand who wouldn't like this place. those negative reviews just don't make sense. the staff are so friendly and well presented and the service has no faults at all. the food is second to none compared to the other fine dining Italian restaurants around. I insist, this restaurant has it all. this is my third visit to ego and the food and service gets better with time. well done

there is no crispy prosciutto on the menu, they only offer prosciutto san daniele imported from san daniele and buffalo mozzarella d.o.p. from napoli, all from italy. real italians don't crisp top quality prosciutto. this restaurant is amazing, wake up sydney.

It was very dark in there. Our waiter was speedy and he gave us an insight into the origins of the salt and pepper. I can't comment too much on the menu, we were the first table to be seated on a Saturday evening but most of the menu was unavailable! Still they offered replacements. My crispy prosciutto was uncooked and the rest of the dishes unremarkable. First and last impressions - all style no substance.

What kind of a review is that. EGO is the best and the only true Italian restaurant in sydney. the food is amazing and the wine list is superb. The service is perfect and they are all Italian (owner, kitchen, waiters). I live in Potts Point and I thank god that a place like this has finally open here. Buon Appetito!

Shocking! Ego says it all! No style and service was shocking taking up to and hour to get served and when the food finally arrived it was cold. Wine list was pathetic and over priced. Trust me, this one restaurant you want to avoid.

this is the best restaurant in australia by far. the food is italian at its best. the vibe is the pumping and the not to loud music is incredible. views to die for from opera house bridge and city skyline. three chef hats for sure. staff is experienced, very friendly and very good lookng which is unusual for sydney and melbourne. this restaurant should win best restaurant of the year 2007 and 2008 because it will be very hard to beat. cocktail bar is hot with the best italian wine list around
