For Christmas Day the Sofitel Wentworth's fine cuisine team has created menus mixing the best of traditional Europe's festive fare with contemporary Australian flair.

You can choose a 5-course meal in the hotel's Parisienne style brassiere Garden Court for lunch or dinner ($198 including beverages) or a fabulous family friendly lunch buffet in the Wentworth's legendary Ballroom ($130 per adult, first glass of wine included, $65 per child)

Executive Chef Jess Ong said he enjoyed putting the menus together with his Executive Sous Chef Andre Bosia and Sous Chef Nicholas Devic.

"The taste sensations will be wonderful in both venues," said Jess. "Take the Garden Court menu, for instance. We'll have five dishes on offer with champagnes, wines and beers specially chosen to match them by our wonderful Sommelier Nobuko Okamura."

The menu includes

• Paupiette of Tasmanian salmon, salmon caviar and baby cress
• Assiette du canard, tea-smoked duck breast, rillettes and foie gras, duck terrine
• Fillet mignon béarnaise, truffle jus, and spinach
• A refreshing apple sorbet with Calvados brandy,
• Snapper fillet, clams, mussels and lobster, and of course
• a bouche de noel

Up to and including Christmas Eve, diners at Garden Court also get to enjoy a 30-minute lunch at $30 (ideal for time-stretched shoppers or business folk and includes Turkey and leg ham roulade, pan seared barramundi and a summer berries charlotte), opt to go a la carte, or totally indulge in a five course degustation at $148 per person.
