From March 17-23, InterContinental Sydney together with the Consul General of Peru and Peru Export Tourism Promotion Board are delighted to host the Peruvian Gastronomic Festival.
As a highlight of this celebration, leading international guest chef Marisa Guiulfo will appear and showcase her wealth of Peruvian Cuisine. Marisa, one of the most important international promoters and disseminators of Peruvian Cuisine has published several books and has demonstrated her cooking skills around the world including the United Nations.
Marisa will be accompanied by pastry chef Jorge Ossio as they prepare for this week long promotion at InterContinental Sydney.
In Café Opera every night during the festival Guest chefs Marisa and Jorge will present a Peruvian Fare of signature dishes that includes ceviche de corvina (ceviche of sea bass), chupe de camarones (Peruvian prawn chowder) seco de cordero (tender lamb in well-seasoned cilantro sauce) and arroz con leche (rice pudding).
Dinner available from 6pm Monday to Saturday. Lunch from 12pm Saturday-Sunday. Cost $69 per person.
Un bocadito delicioso. In the sophisticated new look Cortile, enjoy a delicious taste of Peru before dinner with a selection of specially crafted bocaditos with a glass of Pisco Sour. Made from a regional brandy, lemon juice and bitters this signature drink has become famous around the world.
Thanks to its Inca heritage and to Spanish, Basque, African, Japanese and finally Italian, French and British immigration, Peruvian cuisine combines the flavours of four continents. With the eclectic variety of traditional dishes, the Peruvian culinary arts are in constant evolution.
Peru has a National Pisco Sour Day which is celebrated on the first Saturday of February.
