Have booked for private function, found to have excellent service, staff only too eager to please. reasonable prices.
Has become a regular for lunch dates, just coffees.
Found staff great, even offering the dog a bowl of water if dining outside. Plus in my book

I have been here a few times now and found the service was excellent: the food great and plentiful. the cornish pasties are to die for! The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. all round a great place to eat

I have been in a few times and have really enjoyed the food, i have noticed it can take a while for your food to get there but the hot chocolate was fantastic and staff were really friendly and helpful.

felt the need to add my point as reviews are very conflicting but agree , very poor hygene practices inplace both inside and out, numerous items on menu unavailable both food and drink , deep fryer oil needs replacing and yes owner and staff out front of shop smoking discracefull !!!

I don't know what these people are on, we went for dinner last night and it was just sensational, food was amazing, service brilliant and the general atmosphere was just wonderful. 10/10 all around for everything

Been in for lunch and dinner many times in the last year, recently went in with a table full and ordered four meals which turned out to be unavailble in the end what i ordered came out wrong I then asked for a bottle of reisling and i saw the owner pour sav blanc into the half empty bottle that i just ordered . the male waiter then argued the point that it was!!

such a shame, use to be such a great cafe. floor is filthy with yesterdays food, toilets smell like rubbish, owner and staff out the front smoking and drinking, half the food on there menu is ' currently unavailable '. most alcoholic beverages that are advertised aren't available, opening hours change daily and are hardly ever open for evening service. what a pity, what was once a lovely place has now turned into a empty nothing.

its a shame food used to be good, ordered cake which was very dry not decorated, no cream, no napkin. Drink fridges were only a 5th full so first 2 drinks which were ordered were unavailable. Owner, chef & waiter were outside front of shop smoking not a good look, very poor indeed.

Just astonishing, I have not had service, food or atmosphere this good for a very long time. Highly extensive menu including a menu for dogs that can sit outside with owners, a kid's menu and the choice of meals for adults is so big it can be slightly confusing. Brilliant coffee, fully licensed with a great wine list I simply cannot fault the place. Highly, highly recommended

amazing food, impeccable service and a relaxing environment. Will fly back from qld just to visit Cafe Gilbert again! It is my favourite restaurant and my mouth waters every time i think of their gorgeous chicken wraps. Very handy near local supermarkets and thrift shops. Perfect location tucked back from the street.

Food is superb, coffee is fantastic, service is outstanding. As a regular customer of Cafe Gilbert I can highly recommend it as a fantastic place to eat, have a coffee with friends or just duck in before or after shopping. The menu suits fussy eaters like myself who needs a gluten free menu - again nothing is too much trouble.
