Very impressed with the service, the food and the atmosphere. Completely surpassed my expectations. Wish I had tried less of the plates to share so I could have had dessert. Report Review

I was so sad to see Home closed down due to a fire at the end of the year ... and so happy to see it reopen! I've enjoyed a few dinners at the old Home and just had to stop in for an incredibly tasty meatball sandwich for lunch. I'm really looking forward to trying the new dinner menu with a new emphasis on share plates. Report Review

What a find! We had brunch here a couple of weeks back. Enjoyed the menu, the atmosphere and the music. Tried it for dinner tonight - fabulous. I read somewhere that you feel like a welcome guest here, rather than a customer and that's so true.
The tasting plates were fab, the mains well presented, flavoursome and interesting and desserts yum!

sometimes you find a place that is ok, and then sometimes - zingo! We ate at Rockpool for our wedding anniversary and it was nothing- cardboard -compared to the meal we had here. Great wine, unusual presentation, just not what I had anticipated for a little suburban cafe. Pity the staff couldn't smile more though. fantastic food, well cooked and well priced. Report Review

Read a glowing review in one of the local rags. Unfortunately we didn't get the same experience. Loved the wine we were recommended. And zucchini flowers for starters were exciting. But let down by the mains. Fish of the day seemed like an afterthought and my porterhouse was grey and boring. Report Review

its hard to find a spot with less pretention, and then WOW the plate is almost perfect. I am hard to please- so it's not a big deal-I really want to have no delay in my cold juice, and i want it icey cold. Good juice though! And what delicious food, I had the chicken- really nicely presented and cooked - i have to admit- to perfection. Coffee great too. Will be back again when on this side of town-or do you want to move to Swanston Street please? Report Review

A group of 14 from the John Batman Beefsteak and Burgundy Club held a dinner at home last night. Three superb courses plus appertisers, six great wines, excellent service. A delightful venue, a very professional operation. Report Review

It does what it says on the label - it's unpretentious and engaging. We've been a few times now and we're increasingly impressed with each visit. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and they take pride in the service they offer. The food is easy on the eye and goes out of its way to please your taste buds (that sounds ridiculous I know but I'm in one of those moods!). All in all, I thoroughly recommend home dining room and advise you pay the place a visit if you're hungry in Hawthorn - even if you're nowhere near Hawthorn, it's worth the trip. Report Review

Awesome place, sort of rustic, young and fresh, like eating breakfast at home( a young rustic and fresh home, not your Grandma's home) but someone else does all the work, and a better job of it too!! They also have there own secret blend of coffee beans roasted (by Ninja's I suspect as I can taste a little bit of stealth and coolness in every cup) and they know how to make a great coffee and great food Report Review

These guys are great, a small intimate space with great food all we ever wanted in a local. My girl friend and I had a weekend brunch there recently and they ticked all the boxes (for me the key to a good breakfast is free range organic eggs - twice the price but ten times as tasty - if your local has these eggs they're commited to great brunch). I had the 'home cooked breakfast' their version of a big brekkie - perfectly cooked eggs, a big oven roasted field mushroom, house baked beans and (get this!) organic toast! Well done guys.. perfectly executed. Report Review

Tahnks to all the team at home, we dropped in on a rainy night last week and were blown away by the food!! It was great, tasty yet simple, the kind of food you could eat every day. The service was superb, friendly yet discrete, the waiter had a good knowledge of the wine list and recommended a great Aussie wine we'd not heard of before. The stand out point for us was the great value for money, my wife and I enjoyed a starter (around $10!!) a main and shared a dessert (oh what a dessert!!!) with a bottle of wine and walked away sure we'd been under charged (we hadn't) Report Review
