Popped into Source Cafe for some breakfast/morning tea with a couple of girls from mother's group and their young children. The staff were very friendly, especially towards the kids, which is hard to find these days. The service was efficient for both drinks and food. I had the bircher muesli, which was delicious.

Our experience sadly did not meet our expections. The whiting filletts had the obvious appearance of being of the frozen variety 3/10 and the so called green salad and nuts 2/10. The best part of the meal was the bread and chips. It was offputting to see the kitchen staff using their bare hands to prepared the meals on the plates - no gloves or tongs. When this was put to the management on leaving I was advised that they regularly washed their hands.

Dining at Source Cafe in Maryville (Newcastle) was a long awaited experience for my family and myself. While the scenery is tranquile and low key, my menu selection was mediocre at best. I chanced the Grain Fed Chicken Breast filled with Pork, Dried Cranberry & Pistachio w/ Sweet Corn & Pea Risotto, positioned at the higher-priced-end of the list. After a cliche presentation of meat stacked upon risotto (like all other mains served at my table), I endured a barrage of porridge-style rice, overweight in pepper.
